The Power Of Prayer
Most people don’t know the true power of prayer.
I don’t just mean offering prayers when bad things happen, or typing prayers on social media. I mean taking some time out of your day to communicate with your God. There are countless written prayers available. So I decided to break down some different reasons and benefits of prayer. Also the different kinds, and ways to pray.
If you come from a religious family there is a good chance that you memorized some prayers as a child. A couple of prayers to say before bed, a prayer before dinner, or some prayers to say at church. But not many parents explain the real benefits of open communication with God. The memorized prayers are great for communal worship. However you shouldn’t feel limited to praying only at church or before bed.
The most powerful prayers come from your heart.
I personally take some time every day to have a prayer session with no script. It’s very similar to meditation. I go to my bedroom after work, sit down, relax, close my eyes and begin praying. Most times I offer my gratitude for the blessings I enjoy. I share my goals and aspirations. I ask for guidance and protection. If there’s a hard situation or problem in my life, I ask for strength and wisdom. This has become a daily routine in my life and I’ve seen the benefits time and time again. There is nothing wrong with praying during hard times. But if you continue to pray when your life is going smooth your cup of blessings will run over!
That is my personal routine, and that works for me. However, if you feel more comfortable using a prayer from the Bible or prayer book, go for it! I just feel that speaking to God from your heart and soul is extremely potent. Why not do both? Say the Lords prayer, and then go off script. Whatever way you chose, pray daily.
Why should you pray every day?
This is my opinion. We are taught that God is all knowing and all seeing. The Alpha and Omega. Intelligent beyond all human comprehension. God should know everything we desire and are grateful for right? Wrong! Countless times within all religious writings God has passed down the message to pray. If we don’t offer some feedback on how our life is going, it will continue down the same path. If we don’t directly declare the direction we want to go, our path will be random.
Express your gratitude for the answered prayers, and continue asking for blessings.Your life will be filled with joy and abundance! We all face hardships from time to time. Some might say these hardships are a test of faith. Don’t make the mistake of only praying when things aren’t going your way, or only praying at church. You will definitely see the benefits if you pray every day.
